UNA has a longstanding commitment to traditions and events that make our community unique. We are dedicated to shaping a culture where everyone feels they belong, and these events foster a sense of unity around our identity as UNA. From honoring our history to putting on an epic rock show, our traditions help create an environment where students can connect and find their place.

Light the Fountain

One of our signature campus traditions, Light the Fountain invites students to gather around the Harrison Fountain on campus to see the lighting of the fountain and the first seasonal flow after winter — a symbolic representation of the campus “coming alive” with spring weather. The day’s events also include activities, food trucks, giveaways, and more.

Step Sing

A valued tradition on UNA’s campus hosted by the University Program Council, the Step Sing competition brings together student groups to show off their dancing and/or singing skills. Each group choreographs their own show according to the year’s theme and are judged according to showmanship, musical quality, creativity, and more.
