SOAR (Student Orientation, Advisement, & Registration)

Welcome to ROAR Orientation!

Congratulations on your acceptance to UNA! To enhance the start of your UNA journey, UNA offers five ROAR Orientation sessions to incoming students throughout June and July. ROAR gives you the opportunity to learn about the University’s services, resources, involvement opportunities, and the essential steps you’ll need to complete before beginning your first semester.

During ROAR, students and families will receive information about financial aid, parking decals, meal plans, housing, tuition, campus resources, academic support, student life, and more. ROAR is highly encouraged for all incoming freshmen and transfer students.

Most ROAR Orientation sessions are one-day experiences, with students also having the option to attend one overnight two-day session. One-day ROAR sessions cost $80 per student and $35 per family member. The two-day overnight session costs $125 per student and $35 per family member.

Once you have registered for your ROAR session, it is time to complete your next steps. Completing these items before your session will help ensure a smooth orientation experience and prepare you to make the most of your time on campus.

ROAR Next Steps

Schedule Your Advising Appointment
Freshmen can begin meeting with their academic advisors on May 4, 2026. Transfer students attending in Fall 2026 can begin getting advised as soon as they are admitted to UNA. Students should schedule a one-on-one appointment with their academic advisor before attending ROAR.

Send Transcripts and AP Scores
All first-time freshmen should send final high school transcripts, official college transcripts for dual enrollment courses, and any AP scores to the UNA Admissions Office.

Register Your Vehicle
Students who plan to bring a vehicle to campus should register it with Transportation Services. Students who register their vehicle at least 24 hours before their ROAR session will be able to pick up their parking permit during orientation.

Upload Your Mane Card Photo
The Mane Card is your official student ID card at UNA. Before ROAR, upload your photo and set up mobile credentials for your Mane Card Mobile ID.

Submit Immunization Records
Submit proof of immunizations to Health Services before your session. For questions, contact Health Services at healthservices@una.edu or 256-765-4328.

Download the Orientation App
Download the official ROAR Orientation app, Campus Groups, from the app store. Once downloaded, search for “University of North Alabama,” select “University of North Alabama” from the menu, and sign in using your UNA email and password located in your MyUNA account acceptance letter.

ROAR is your first opportunity to learn about important tasks you will complete each semester, including course registration, billing, financial aid acceptance, parking, student IDs, and more.

At UNA, students are more than a student ID or course registration. ROAR helps you begin building relationships with faculty, staff, and campus partners who can support your time at UNA and your future career.

Take Care of Last-Minute Business
ROAR is a great time to make sure small details are not overlooked. Your ROAR Counselor can help you check on items such as submitting final high school transcripts, setting up your Mane Card student ID, and preparing for your first semester.

Student ROAR Orientation is designed to help incoming students transition to UNA with confidence. During the session, students will meet future classmates, connect with ROAR Counselors, learn about academic expectations, explore student organizations, attend resource sessions, and participate in interactive breakouts.

Family ROAR Orientation

Family ROAR is tailored to the needs of parents and guardians, focusing on topics that are especially relevant to those supporting a new UNA student. The optional Family ROAR Orientation program runs concurrently with Student ROAR Orientation and provides a comprehensive introduction to the campus resources and services designed to help students succeed as UNA Lions.

Students can register up to two family members for Family ROAR when completing their online registration for Student ROAR Orientation. The cost to attend Family ROAR is $35 per family member. This fee is non-refundable, and registration is not complete until the registration fee has been paid. Student and family fees cover meals, materials, student employment, and other costs needed to run the ROAR Orientation program.

Overnight Family Schedule

Family members attending the overnight ROAR session will follow the Day 1 family schedule through the afternoon programming and student panel. Family members are dismissed at 4:00 PM on Day 1. Families who choose to stay in town overnight may join students for Check Out at 8:30 AM or Closing at 9:15 AM on Day 2.

ROAR Counselors and staff are vital in helping incoming freshmen and their families prepare for the first semester at UNA. Your ROAR Counselor will help you navigate the transition to college life, answer questions, connect you with campus resources, and support a smooth and successful start to your UNA journey.
