The Office of the Registrar maintains official student academic records and provides services related to transcripts, enrollment history, degree verification, and other academic documents. Whether you’re a current student, alumnus, employer, or third party requesting information, you can access the records you need while protecting student privacy and complying with federal regulations.

Requesting Student Information 

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of student education records and generally prohibits the release of personally identifiable information without the student’s consent. Exceptions may apply, including:

• When the university has obtained prior written consent from the student
• When the student has not restricted the release of directory information

At UNA, FERPA rights cease upon a student’s death. However, it is university policy that records of deceased students are not released to third parties unless specifically authorized by the executor of the estate or the student’s next of kin.

The following information is intended for employers, credit card companies, scholarship organizations, insurance providers, third parties, and other agencies seeking to verify student enrollment or degrees earned at the University of North Alabama.

Academic Record Services & Processing Fees 

The University of North Alabama offers a variety of academic record services for students, alumni, and third parties. Explore the options below to find the information or documentation you need.

National Student Clearinghouse

The University of North Alabama has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) to provide enrollment and degree verification services.

Please note: Degree verification requests may be subject to a processing fee.

Processing Fees

Search fees are assessed based on the format of the records requested.

• Digital Data Files (Excel format): A $200 query development, testing, production, and validation fee applies to requests for digital student data files.
• Hardcopy Records: $20 search fee per request.
• Electronic Records: $20 search fee per request.

Additional Fees

• First 25 pages copied: $2.00 per page
• Each page over 25: $1.00 per page
• Hardcopy requests shipped via UPS overnight: $17.50

Payment is required before records requests can be finalized. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the University of North Alabama.
