Program Overview

Prepare for a career in hotels, restaurants, resorts, tourism, events, and hospitality leadership with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Events Management from UNA. This undergraduate program helps students build the business, operations, service, technology, planning, and management skills needed to succeed in the hospitality and events industries. The BS in Hospitality and Events Management is housed in UNA’s School of the Arts through the Department of Visual Arts and Design.

  • Learn in a creative, interdisciplinary college. The program is part of the School of the Arts, which includes programs across visual arts, design, culinary arts, fashion, hospitality, music, entertainment, theatre, and related fields.

Curriculum & Coursework

The BS in Hospitality and Events Management requires 120 total credit hours. Students complete general education requirements, Area V requirements, major core courses, a hospitality internship, and general electives as needed. A minor is not required for this major.

Admissions Requirements

Admission into Hospitality and Events Management requires:

  • Completion of 120 total credit hours.Student Experience
  • Admission to the University of North Alabama.
  • Completion of applicable undergraduate student requirements.
  • Completion of general education requirements, Area V requirements, major core requirements, internship requirements, and general electives as needed.

Hospitality and Events Management students gain practical preparation through coursework in hospitality operations, tourism, lodging, technology, human resources, food and beverage, events, sustainability, risk management, revenue management, and internship experience. The program’s interdisciplinary setting within the Department of Visual Arts and Design also connects students to a creative academic environment that includes hospitality, culinary, fashion, art, and design-related fields.
