Program Overview
Develop advanced language, cultural, writing, and communication skills with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of North Alabama. This undergraduate program is designed for students who want to deepen their understanding of the Spanish language and the cultures, literatures, histories, and communities connected to the Spanish-speaking world.
Why Choose This Program?
- Choose a focused pathway. Spanish majors may pursue options such as Spanish – Language and Culture or Spanish for Business, depending on their interests and career goals.
- Study language in its cultural context. Coursework includes Hispanic literature, Spanish and Latin American civilization, Spanish linguistics, Spanish cinema, and Latin American cinema.
- Connect language learning to business. The Spanish for Business option includes coursework such as Spanish Writing for Business and Advanced Spanish for Business.
Curriculum & Coursework
The BA in Spanish requires 120 total credit hours. Students complete UNA general education requirements, 22 hours of Spanish major core requirements, an 18-hour option, and general electives as needed. For the Spanish major, a minor or second major is required.
