Chemistry Program Options
Applied Chemistry
The Applied Chemistry concentration provides students with a flexible foundation in chemistry that can be paired with another area of interest through a minor, a second major, or a second degree. With coursework in instrumental analysis and physical chemistry, students build practical lab and technical skills that can support careers in industry, environmental science, forensics, entrepreneurship, and related fields.
Biochemistry (ACS Certified)
This ACS-certified concentration explores the chemistry of living systems, combining advanced coursework in chemistry with biology-focused study in areas like genetics or microbiology. It’s a strong fit for students interested in biomedical research, biotechnology, graduate study, or careers connected to health and life sciences.
General Chemistry (ACS Certified)
This ACS-certified concentration provides the most comprehensive preparation in core chemistry, including advanced coursework in inorganic, organic, physical, and instrumental chemistry, plus senior research or internship experience. It’s ideal for students preparing for graduate school, laboratory careers, chemical industry roles, or other science-based professional paths.
Professional Health Science
The Professional Health Science concentration is designed for students planning to pursue careers or advanced study in health-related fields. With supporting coursework in biology, anatomy and physiology, genetics, microbiology, psychology, sociology, and ethics, students build a science foundation that connects chemistry to human health and patient-centered professions.
