The Legacy Initiative
Leave Your Legacy at UNA
The Legacy Initiative gives alumni, friends, families, faculty, staff, students, and supporters the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the University of North Alabama.
Launched by UNA Advancement in August 2020, The Legacy Initiative was created in response to the December 2019 collapse of UNA’s iconic Harrison Fountain. The initiative supports the restoration of Harrison Fountain and Plaza, the heart of UNA’s campus, while also giving supporters the opportunity to establish their legacy at UNA and have their name forever etched in Harrison Plaza.
About The Legacy Initiative
The Legacy Initiative includes two phases that support both the restoration of Harrison Fountain and Plaza and the future needs of the University.
Phase I
Phase I is the restoration of Harrison Fountain and Plaza and will continue until the project is fully funded.
Phase II
Phase II supports the greatest needs and emerging priorities of the University. This phase will continue until every brick in Harrison Plaza, and the pathways leading to it, includes the name of someone who loves UNA.
Harrison Plaza Legacy Opportunities
Supporters can choose from several naming opportunities in Harrison Plaza. Each opportunity offers a meaningful way to honor a person, family, class year, organization, milestone, or UNA memory.
Bricks
Bricks can be engraved in your name or the name of a loved one, used to honor a soldier or veteran, given in memory of someone special, used to recognize a teacher or student, or used to mark a meaningful date such as a graduation, birthday, anniversary, or wedding.
A portion of each brick purchase supports the restoration of Harrison Fountain and Plaza, while a portion supports the Harrison Plaza Endowment for the future needs and emerging priorities of Harrison Fountain and Plaza and the pathways leading to it.
