The University of North Alabama’s Associate of Science degree in Mechatronics is a two-year program built to empower graduates with the knowledge and abilities needed for in-demand, high-paying jobs in the integration of modern mechanical and electrical engineering industries.

Curriculum & Coursework
Our Associates in Mechatronics program’s core subjects teach the essential concepts necessary for all certification areas and career paths. After completing the core technical courses, students will be primed to obtain industry certification in Industrial Electrical from the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute. (PMMI) and, in turn, entry-level roles as electrical engineers in a production environment.

- MEC 140 AC and DC Fundamentals and Circuits
Once students have met these general education requirements, they will complete two of the three certificates: Controls Systems, Mechanical Systems, or Systems Operations.

Student Experience
As a Mechatronics AS student, you’ll be part of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering (CASE) and the Department of Engineering and Industrial Professions (EIP), where learning happens as much in the lab as in the classroom. Students can get involved through engineering student organizations, hands-on lab and project work, industry co-ops and internships, and mentoring programs, giving you opportunities to build technical skills, connect with employers, and apply your training in real-world manufacturing and automation settings.
